Some facts about me:

DSC_8751.JPG
  • My mom is Puerto Rican (hence the Mercedes) and my dad is white (hence the Blankenship).

  • I grew up in Germantown, Maryland, which is in Montgomery County, but too far away from a Metro station to say I'm "from DC."

  • I went to Poolesville High School, where I was part of the Humanities magnet program, a loyal member of the Midnight Players Drama Club, and (somehow) the Captain of the Drumline.

  • I graduated from American University in Washington, DC with my Bachelor of Arts in Musical Theatre.

  • During my time at AU, I got to be a director, dramaturg, writer, designer, teaching assistant, assistant stage manager, technician, carpenter, box office worker, house manager, and actor.

  • From 2017–2023, I was a member of the Board of Directors of Wildwood Summer Theatre, an entirely youth-run, non-profit community theatre organization based in Montgomery County, MD.

  • Eventually, I want to get my MFA in Directing, work as a professional director specializing in new musical theatre, and become a theatre educator at the college level.

Some things that are important to me:

  • Financial accessibility of performing arts programs

  • Nuanced discussion about mental health and mental illness

  • Increasing understanding of the diversity of Latine cultures and experiences

  • Awareness of differences in navigating society as a person with ADHD

  • The collaborative nature of creating theatre

  • Nuance in general

  • Dogs

* definitely not an exhaustive list
